For summer 2010, Ethos Magazine partnered with the City of Eugene and Ninkasi Brewing to find a banner to blow up to 7′ by 17′ and hang along Willamette and 8th. Learn more about the video below.

The winner: Matt Wiggins was raised by badgers in the forests of northern Idaho. Early on in his childhood, he learned to paint by smashing up leaves and berries and smearing them on trees. In 2004, after a life-affirming vision quest, he wandered into the lush Willamette Valley and made the decision to assimilate into society. He has lived happily in Eugene ever since, studying art and design at Lane Community College. The inspiration for his untitled entry in the Spirit of Summer competition comes from the beautiful, exuberant, and unforgettable summers he has experienced in the city, and all the amazing people that have made his life so colorful since making Eugene his home.
